The group original founded by  Music Producer and founder of New Edition, Maurice Starr.  Maurice was looking for 5 kids with a musical talent and the ability to dance.  This is where these 5 young men came into play.  Maurice Starr paved the streets of Boston, Massachusetts looking for a fresh new look, and this is where he found Donnie Wahlberg the first member to join.  Shortly after he had recruited young Wahlberg,  Danny Wood came into auction and got the second spot.  Donnie who had been in contact with Jordan Knight as a classmate, also came in to auditioned and placed in as the third member.  Later on Mark Wahlberg and Jamie Kelly came in and then decided this was not for them, so their spots in the band were replaced by Jonathan Knight and Jamaica Plains Joey McIntyre.   Then the band was formed and ready to begin a career that neither Starr nor the group could ever imagine!

The first album "New Kids on the Block" was the first step in making it, but it was not this album that everyone remembers it is instead the second album that is known as the marking point for the guys.  But this was the album that got them started and at first the guys mostly played in High school gyms, and school dances as the first gigs of their careers.  But this was just the beginning, a new and popular face would change their careers, and their lives as they new it.  Tiffany known for her red hair and solid sound as a singer, watched as the guys auditioned for her before a show and was immediately taken by the 5 cuties from Boston and took them on as her opening act.

This squeaky clean image that these 5 brought out was what the public was looking for.  The parents approved, and the girls went crazy, this was it the guys had finally gotten to the top and the group was a phenomena!  The guys in sells alone beat any other music album there first time around with the album "Hangin Tough" in 1989.  This is where it all began was with the success of the second album "Hangin Tough" and as the opening act of Tiffany's tour.  This is where we meet and forever fall in love with the boys from "BeanTown".

Now that the group has separated and gone their own ways we still have that memory of the pillows, dolls, posters, magazines, buttons, sleeping bags, trading cards, and many other pieces of merchandise that we all hung on our bedroom walls, or had in our rooms.  But we will never forget the music that they brought our way and the way they touched our hearts and lives.  So we are here to keep that memory alive, but it is not so hard anymore, since two of them are in acting, and three of them are still continuing with their musical careers as solo artists.
